Apple has now introduced its first foldable model as iPhone Duo. Apple’s September 9 announcement confirms the name and final specifications.

WIRED's September event preview places the rumored price around $2,000. That is an estimate, not announced pricing, and an unveiling would not necessarily mean immediate availability.

Our take: the interesting question is whether an unfolding screen would replace something you already carry. Think about reading, maps, work and travel. Before choosing one, look for practical details about folded size, screen durability, repair options, app layouts and battery life. Do not plan to reuse a conventional iPhone case or mount without checking the new device's fit.

Will the regular iPhone 18 launch at this event?

It may not. Macworld's current launch overview describes a reported split schedule: premium iPhones in fall 2026, with the standard iPhone 18, iPhone 18e and a second-generation iPhone Air potentially following in spring 2027. Apple has not confirmed that lineup or schedule.
